Noah is one of the most well-known people in the Bible. His story is full of amazing events, strong faith, and a powerful example of obedience to God. Here are ten interesting facts about Noah that show why his life still matters today.

1. Noah Found Favor With God

While the world was full of evil, Noah stood out. Genesis 6:8 says,
"But Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord."
God saw Noah as righteous because he walked faithfully with Him. He wasn’t perfect, but he lived differently than others in his time.

2. He Was Righteous in a Wicked World

Genesis 6:9 describes Noah this way:
"Noah was a just man and perfect in his generations, and Noah walked with God."
While the world around him was full of violence and sin, Noah chose to follow God. He obeyed even when it wasn’t popular or easy.

3. Noah Built the Ark With Exact Instructions

God gave Noah detailed plans to build the ark. It wasn’t just a guess or a rough design. Genesis 6:15 says:
"And this is the fashion which thou shalt make it of…"
He built it 300 cubits long, 50 cubits wide, and 30 cubits high. That’s about 450 feet long—longer than a football field!

4. It Took Noah 100 Years to Build the Ark

According to Genesis 5:32 and Genesis 7:6, Noah was 500 years old when God told him to build the ark and 600 when the flood came.
That means he worked for about 100 years, staying faithful while others laughed or ignored him.

5. Noah Preached While He Built

Noah didn’t just build—he also preached. 2 Peter 2:5 calls him:
"a preacher of righteousness."
Even while working on the ark, Noah warned people about what was coming. But no one listened, and only his family was saved.

6. He Took Two of Every Kind of Animal (and Seven of Some)

Most people know Noah took animals on the ark, but did you know he took more than just pairs?
Genesis 7:2–3 says:
"Of every clean beast thou shalt take to thee by sevens… and of beasts that are not clean by two."
Clean animals were used for sacrifices, so God told Noah to take more of them.

7. The Flood Covered the Whole Earth

The flood didn’t just cause a lot of rain—it covered everything. Genesis 7:20 says:
"Fifteen cubits upward did the waters prevail; and the mountains were covered."
That means even the tallest mountains were under water. The flood lasted 40 days and 40 nights, but water stayed for much longer.

8. Noah Sent Out Birds to Find Dry Land

To see if the floodwaters had gone down, Noah sent out birds.
Genesis 8:6–12 tells how he first sent a raven, then a dove. The dove came back with an olive leaf, a sign that trees had started to grow again.

9. God Made a Covenant With Noah

After the flood, God made a promise to Noah. Genesis 9:11 says:
"Neither shall all flesh be cut off any more by the waters of a flood."
God set a rainbow in the sky as a sign of that covenant. It was a reminder that He would never flood the earth again.

10. Noah Lived 350 Years After the Flood

Noah lived a long life even after the flood. Genesis 9:28–29 says:
"And Noah lived after the flood three hundred and fifty years. And all the days of Noah were nine hundred and fifty years."
He saw the earth repopulated and probably told his story to many generations.
