Evangelism means sharing the good news of Jesus. The word comes from the Greek euangelion, which means “good news.” We tell others that Jesus lived, died, and rose again. We invite people to trust Him as Savior and Lord.

Evangelism is more than words. It is also the way we live. We show love, seek peace, and point people to the truth. Our lives and our lips work together.

The Biblical Command for Evangelism

Jesus gave a clear command to share the gospel with the whole world. This call is for every believer and every church.

Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

Matthew 28:19–20 (KJV)

Why Evangelism Matters

People need to hear the message to believe it. God uses simple words, shared in love, to bring people to Himself.

How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?

Romans 10:14 (KJV)

Evangelism and the Holiness of God

God is holy. He is set apart from sin and worthy of all worship. Because God is holy, sin cannot stand in His presence. The gospel shows how a holy God brings sinners near through Jesus. When we share the gospel, we honor God’s holiness and invite others to live holy lives.

But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation; Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.

1 Peter 1:15–16 (KJV)

Evangelism also spreads God’s glory. As more people trust Christ, more voices praise His holy name.

And one cried unto another, and said, Holy, holy, holy, is the LORD of hosts: the whole earth is full of his glory.

Isaiah 6:3 (KJV)

Methods of Evangelism

God can use many simple ways to share the gospel in daily life.

  • Personal talks: Share your story and listen well.
  • Teaching and preaching: Open the Bible with others.
  • Lifestyle witness: Let your actions match your words.
  • Service and care: Meet needs and point to Christ.

The Power of the Holy Spirit

We do not change hearts. God does. The Holy Spirit gives boldness and opens ears to hear.

But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

Acts 1:8 (KJV)

Living Out Evangelism Daily

We share with gentleness, respect, and hope. Be ready to explain why you trust Jesus, and show His love in every setting.

But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:

1 Peter 3:15 (KJV)
