Fatherhood of God: Knowing God as Your Heavenly Father
The Fatherhood of God helps us understand both who God is and how believers belong to His family. The Father is distinct from the Son and the Holy Spirit, yet all three Persons are the one God. Through Jesus Christ, sinners can know Him as their heavenly Father.
Use this study to explore adoption, prayer, and life as God’s children. Start with the question that matters to you, then follow the reading guide below.
For you are all children of God, through faith in Christ Jesus.

What the Fatherhood of God Means for You
God’s Fatherhood is more than a comforting title. It points to a relationship made possible through Christ. God created all people, but becoming His child involves new birth and faith in His Son. Adoption gives believers a place in His family and calls them to live with trust and reverence.
Human fathers can give us examples of care, but they can also fail us. Scripture is our guide to the heavenly Father’s character. His goodness is the standard by which we understand fatherly love.
