Jesus of Nazareth fulfilled many Old Testament prophecies during His life, death, and resurrection. These prophecies, written hundreds of years before His birth, revealed where He would be born, how He would live, and even how He would die. Some scholars estimate that Jesus fulfilled over 300 specific prophecies.

What Is a Prophecy?

A prophecy is a message from God, often about the future. In the Bible, prophets spoke words that came directly from the Lord. These words often pointed to the coming Messiah—Jesus.

2 Peter 1:21 – “For prophecy never came by the will of man, but holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit.”

Why It Matters

The fulfillment of these prophecies shows that Jesus is the promised Messiah. The Old Testament wasn’t just random writings—it pointed clearly to Jesus.

Luke 24:44 – “Then He said to them, ‘These are the words which I spoke to you… that all things must be fulfilled which were written in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms concerning Me.’”

Can One Person Really Fulfill Them All?

The odds of one person fulfilling just eight of these prophecies is extremely small—about 1 in 100,000,000,000,000,000. Yet Jesus fulfilled hundreds. That makes His identity as the Son of God hard to deny.

John 5:39 – “You search the Scriptures, for in them you think you have eternal life; and these are they which testify of Me.”
