Zechariah is a powerful voice in the Old Testament. His words gave hope to God’s people after their return from exile. The Book of Zechariah combines visions, prophecies, and messianic promises. 1. Zechariah Was a Priest and a Prophet

Zechariah came from a priestly family. His grandfather was Iddo, a priest who returned with Zerubbabel from Babylon (Nehemiah 12:4).

Zechariah 1:1 – “In the eighth month, in the second year of Darius, came the word of the Lord unto Zechariah, the son of Berechiah, the son of Iddo the prophet…”

This dual role gave him spiritual authority among the people during the rebuilding of Jerusalem.

2. He Encouraged the Rebuilding of the Temple

Zechariah, along with Haggai, urged the people to rebuild the temple after returning from exile. The temple had been destroyed by the Babylonians.

5. Zechariah Prophesied About the Messiah
